‘Forgotten Cottons’ are generous 50 x 50 cm 100% cotton squares printed with very early vintage maps of NZ cities (Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin) and have a multitude of uses. Keep in a pocket, purse or bag as a handkerchief, neckerchief, bandana or pocket square. Spread on the grass, tray or table as a mini picnic blanket, tray cloth or tablecloth and use as napkin after eating. Hang on the wall as a cool wall hanging and marvel at the intricate details of these early city plans. They also make a great reusable gift wrap.
I’ve used one as an emergency bandage and a face mop for hot days. The high quality 100% cotton base-cloth mean they wash well and are a more sustainable option than wet wipes. The city streets plans have changed very little in the past 100 years so you can always use them as a map if you get lost.
The maps are courtesy of various library collections and the details of each is marked on the hem. Layout and packaging design by Wolfkamp & Stone.
