Above are some new paintings from the ‘Crown Birdy’ series by Henri Stone at Soul Gallery, 300 Barton St, Hamilton. All paintings are framed in simple milk-white frames with a wide mat in the same colour. The ones above have a double mat. They are all painted in Ecoline watercolour inks on heavy watercolour paper.
Live Wires have recently published cards from these paintings, printed on quality art stock paper with a debossed border. The painting (above left, SOLD), ‘Tui and Pohutukawa in a Crown Lynn milk jug’, has been adapted for the iPhone 6 cases. The painting on the right ‘Fantails and Manuka in a Crown Lynn milk jug’ is being considered for further iPhone phone case designs. This painting is still available from Soul Gallery.

Above are details from two paintings which are also published as cards, each a group of six Crown Lynn tulip cups. The one on the left is a group in pink with a NZ tomtit and whitehead. The group on the right is in naturals with a NZ stitchbird and whitehead. I researched the original Crown Lynn glaze colours of the tulip-shaped teacups and my paintings are as close a colour match as I could manage in a different medium. The flora and fauna I used to decorate the cups are all New Zealand native plants and flowers.
